ERCE - GODDESS OF AUTUMN

As we begin to sink into the Autumn mysts here in East Anglia, a lot of people say this is their favourite time of year.
We call upon the Goddess Erce in the East Anglia Goddess Temple. An Anglo Saxon/Celtic Goddess who sits in the west of our region with the element of earth. I place Her geographically around Hatfield Forest, a Kings hunting forest, a place where Boudicca may well have passed through on Her travels when evading or plotting against the Romans. Stane Street itself is a Roman road that leads to Colchester, running along the northern border. The perfect place to visit for an autumn walk.
Erce is the Enchantress and Grandmother Goddess – She who sits between Mother and Crone, keeping us young and at the same time preparing us for our later years when life will slow down for us.
We are now thankful for our second harvest whereby we can gather the last of our garden / allotment crops – all those courgettes, squashes and tomatoes that we have been nurturing through the year are now ripe and ready for the picking.
We associate the planets of Jupiter and Saturn to Erce – expansion and structure – a good time for growing our ideas and putting formality to them ready for next Spring. The crystals of the Tiger’s Eye, Smokey Quartz and Carnelian belong to Erce. The plants that Erce brings our attention to are basil, blackberry leaf and parsley. Along with chrysanthemums and the chestnut tree. Her creatures are the Earth animals – the badger, the fox, the moles and voles. And we mustn’t forget the Gnomes and Elves in Her magikal Earth garden.
Erce wears the colours of Autumn – brown, dark orange and khaki – as She protects the animals of the Earth with Her cloak and helps us settle towards the darker months.
Blessed Be Erce!
Happy Autumn! 🍂🍁🍄
